Packaging Technician I, 2nd Shift-Green Bay, WI
Job Description:
The responsibilities of the Packaging Technician position include maintaining high sanitary standards throughout the preparation, set-up, and operation of the designated jobs, while meeting the high quality packaging specifications within a safe work environment. The Packaging Technician is also responsible for continuously working towards the improvement of quality in all operations.
Primary Responsibilities:
Ø Operate and monitor assigned machine(s) to detect product defects and/or machine malfunctions.
Ø Troubleshoot issues related to product quality and machine performance.
Ø Perform job duties within the established quality control guidelines of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
Ø Accurately review and perform each job as required by the manufacturing batch record specifications.
Ø Complete all job related documentation accurately and timely.
Ø Maintain high standards of cleanliness of work space, equipment, and materials at all times.
Ø Perform cleaning duties of workspace to maintain sanitary conditions before, during, and after a new job is introduced into the area.
Ø Produce products that are defect-free, properly identified, and within the established standards of the master batch record.
Ø Utilize hand tools, power tools, pallet jacks, and other tools as required to perform essential job duties.
Ø Notify Supervisor or Manager if any discrepancies arise, such as but not limited to: safety, quality, operations, or health concerns.
Ø Knowledgeable in mathematics.
Ø Follow the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines at all times.
Ø Flexibility in assigned work schedule to meet business needs.
CORE COMPETENCIES:
PACKAGING TECHNICIAN I (0-24 Month Period)
Ø Must be proficient in two Packaging Zones (Zone 4 + 1 other)
Ø Review and begin building knowledge of required SOP and cGMP guidelines for position.
Ø Perform quality verifications.
Ø Maintain a clean and safe workspace.
Ø Build partnerships through team work and communication.
Ø Completion of all training guide requirements.
Ø Independently operate packaging equipment, pack, stack and perform line quality checks.
Ø Accurate documentation is required.
Ø Ability to independently troubleshoot minor machine malfunctions.
Ø Knowledgeable in safety policy and lockout/tagout procedures.
Ø Reach overall established changeover time through effective time management.
Ø Complete all established Technician I requirements within a 24 month period.
PACKAGING TECHNICIAN II
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Technician I Level
Ø Must be proficient in Zones 1-4 on one packaging line.
Ø Independently operate, troubleshoot, and diagnose machine failures.
Ø Consistently meet or exceed established changeover times through effective time management.
Ø Proficient recordkeeping abilities.
Ø Utilize computer programs that are required for job performance (i.e. Warehouse Management Software, Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc).
Ø Demonstrate abilities to train other team members.
Ø Effective and proficient team player that is aware of areas of opportunity within the assigned area.
Ø Consistently maintain all established job requirements and responsibilities.
PACKAGING TECHNICIAN III
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Technician II Level and position availability
Ø Must be proficient in Zones 1-5 on one packaging line.
Ø Proficient in troubleshooting of all machines in assigned area.
Ø Recognizes opportunities to improve processes to become more efficient.
Ø Ability to train and develop team members.
Ø Builds rapport with team members and networks with other departments for support.
Ø Demonstrate coaching and mentoring skills.
Ø Effective presentation skills.
Ø Adherence to established schedule for lines.
Ø Perform minor preventative maintenance on assigned machine(s).
Skills & Experience:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Associates must have the capability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, in addition to having effective written and verbal communications in English to meet training, safety and quality requirements.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
